For those of you who don’t already know, Alicia was diagnosed with cancer just a few weeks ago. Things have progressed quickly after her diagnosis.
As you can imagine, this entire experience is a lot to handle, not only for Alicia, but her family as well. Nick, along with his parents and Alicia’s parents, are doing everything they can to help Alicia on this journey as well as taking care of their 3 kids: Gia, Rowen, and Callan.
This is not the Gerakos Family asking for help. We all know they would much rather be on the giving end than the receiving end. This is put together for everyone asking how they can support them but aren’t sure how. In situations like this, it takes a village, so let’s show them our village and take some things off their plate.
With that said, let’s show them they aren’t in this alone. With insurance not covering much as of now, their medical expenses are going to add up quickly. If we can help them with this, it’ll allow them to focus on family time and getting Alicia’s needs met.
I know many of us want to help but we don’t know how, so this is a great start. We are starting this GoFundMe to help take away some stress from them during this difficult time. These funds will go towards healthy groceries and medical bills. We were thinking of starting a meal train, but it would be difficult with Alicia’s newly prescribed diet as she goes through chemo.
Thank you for all the prayers thus far and please keep them coming. Our God is the God of miracles.
We all love the Gerakos Family. Thank you so much for wanting to help support them!
Feel free to call or text us with any questions to avoid going through Nick or Alicia at this time to maintain their privacy.

This past week, two of our esteemed NBFA members were honored at the annual Law & Order Awards Dinner at the American Legion. Congratulations to the NBFA Firefighter of the Year, Nick Gerakos, and the NBFA Civilian of the Year, Nadine Morris! Your service to our community is exemplary, and we are blessed to have you on our team!

The Newport Beach Fire Department is proud to announce the addition of Tora to our ranks! Tora is a support animal donated by the Patriotic Service Dog Foundation, a non-profit organization providing service dogs for Military & First Responder Veterans. She is trained and maintained by one of our own firefighter/paramedics. Thank you to the Noble Vikings of Orange County for donating the money to train Tora! You can meet Tora at many of our events throughout the year. Welcome to the family, Tora!

Every year the Newport Beach Fire Firefighters adopt a local family during the Christmas season through our Fire Santa Program. Our goal has always been to extend our service to the community we already serve by assisting those families who are unable to support themselves due to extenuating circumstances.

Every year the Newport Beach Fire Firefighters adopt a local family during the Christmas season through our Fire Santa Program. Our goal has always been to extend our service to the community we already serve by assisting those families who are unable to support themselves due to extenuating circumstances.

This program started 16 years ago with the idea of helping a child / children to receive everything they would want for Christmas (Christmas tree, gifts, Christmas dinner, decorations, etc.) throughout the entire month of December. What we found is that there was SO much more that these families needed.

This quickly became our primary focus. We have completed everything from total home remodels, months worth of groceries, job placement and paying off medical bills or rent checks to avoid eviction.

We always conclude each year with a check made out to the family we serve. Although the tasks are different every year, the one remaining constant is the enormous impact our family / community can make to the family we serve. This year is turning out to be no exception.
